Three names, one person, thirty years of restarts: powercx.com → eberhardo.com → iameberhard.com.
Three names, one site
This site started in 1996 as powercx.com — a personal blog before "blog" was really the word for it. A while later it became eberhardo.com. A few years ago it landed where it is now, iameberhard.com, and that's been its name ever since.
Same person behind it the whole time. Different decade, different tooling, different obsessions worth writing about.
The current incarnation runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 in my house — Next.js, Postgres, a Cloudflare Tunnel, no managed hosting bill. Most of what shows up here is about the things I'm building on it.
Who I am
I'm Eberhard Ojong. I work in technology and media — currently CTO at KG Media Indonesia, based in Jakarta.
I went to high school in California and studied Computer Video and Imaging at the University of Silicon Valley, graduating in the 2000's. I started my career at a startup that same year, just before the dot-com bust. The few years after that were spent in the United States — programming at Wells Fargo in San Francisco, then project management at Cisco Systems. I moved to Indonesia and joined Kompas Gramedia, doing business development around Kompas.com, Gramedia.com, and the Kompas daily newspaper.
I helped build up Gramedia Digital Nusantara from scratch — built the core team, took the CTO seat the year after, then moved into Chief Product Officer for the four years after that. From 2023 I joined Harian Kompas, first as Vice CTO and then CTO, leading the technology, product, and data teams. Earlier this year I stepped into the CTO role at KG Media Indonesia.
The thread through all of it: media, product, and engineering, in roughly that order of distraction.
